Calls for Proposals

Project name Waterloo Park Temporary Art Installation
Proposal submission deadline November 5, 2021 by 5:00 p.m. EST
Value $2,000.00 (inclusive of artist fees and supplies)
Location Eby Farmstead

City of Waterloo is inviting artists to submit a proposal to be featured in Waterloo Park from November 2021 to April 2022.

The goal of this pilot program is to animate Waterloo Park in the winter months and to engage the community in the park through thoughtful and engaging displays of art and temporary installations.

The pieces will be situated in the Eby Farmstead and will provide engagement in the off-season. All animals will be removed from the farmstead giving artists free reign to propose installations inside the animal enclosure areas. Eby Farmstead is centrally located in the park. In the summer months, it is home to a variety of animals including llamas, peacocks, chickens, potbelly pigs, miniature ponies, goats and more.

The installations will be hosted in three (3) to five (5) locations in the Eby Farmstead. This includes the fenced-in area where the animals are traditionally kept. Artists are encouraged to consider the fencing, sightlines, and limitations of the space when proposing work. Some areas will be programed by Wonders of Winter, a volunteer-run light festival that will run from November until the end of December. Thus, collaboration with City of Waterloo staff may be necessary in selecting a precise location.

Five artists will be selected as part of this open call.

Further information is provided in the application process.
